Charlotte Bowden (soprano) studied at the Royal College of Music, and makes her debut with The Mozartists in ‘1773 – An Opera Kaleidoscope’ at Cadogan Hall. She has since been a Jerwood Young Artist and an Opera Holland Park Young Artist. She was a finalist in the recent 2022 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and was awarded Second Prize and the Audience Prize in the 2018 Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards, and First Prizes in the Marjorie Thomas Art of Song Prize and the Michael Head Prize.This season she will cover Juliette in Die tote Stadt at English National Opera and returns to Opera Holland Park to play the Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel. She recently made her role and house debut as Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro) for Glyndebourne Festival as a 2022 Jerwood Young Artist. She reprised the role for Glyndebourne Tour in the Autumn as well as taking on the cover of Susanna.  Other operatic roles include Susanna (OHP Young Artist), Gretel (British Youth Opera/Silent Opera and RCM Opera), Pamina (RCM Opera Studio), and Flaminia Il mondo della luna (RCM Opera Studio). She has also appeared as Bridesmaid in Der Freischütz (Sir Mark Elder/OAE) and covered roles including Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas (ETO).  In concert she has performed at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Snape Maltings, St Martin-in-the-Fields and made her Wigmore Hall debut as Orfeo in Handel Parnasso in festa for the London Handel Festival. Her repertoire includes the Bach Passions and B minor mass, Handel Messiah, Haydn The Creation, Mozart Mass in C minor and Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9, Rossini Petite messe solennelle and Stabat Mater, Mahler’s second and fourth symphonies, Strauss Vier Letzte Lieder, and Tippett A Child of Our Time.
